Somerset celebrates its birthday over the weekend of 7/8th May through to Somerset Day on 11th May when we can start waving goodbye to lockdown by Flying the Flag for Somerset.
One of Somerset’s award-winning brands, Godminster, will be Flying the Flag for Somerset this year having just joined as a new Official Partner. Based in the heart of Somerset, Godminster represents the very essence of Somerset, famous as it is for its farm, food and drink producers which make the County the breadbasket of England.
Richard Hollingbery, who with his team has been pursuing an environmentally friendly and ethical approach to farming since he bought the farm in 1993, said “We are delighted to be partnering with Shop Somerset to increase the awareness of the great food, drink and other produce that comes from Somerset. As an organic farm, our stewardship of the beautiful Somerset countryside is at the heart of everything we do; our motto is ‘Nature Repays Those Who Treat Her Kindly’ and we know that preserving our glorious Somerset fields and hedgerows is key to our sustainable, environmentally diverse farming business. Somerset is the home of incredible cheddar and Godminster are delighted to be flying the flag for our home county.”
Jessica Kimber-Holloway, Operations and Commercial Director for Godminster, said “Shop Somerset is an important initiative and we’re proud to be a part of raising awareness of the great independent businesses in Somerset. The past twelve months have highlighted just how important it is to shop locally and support local producers. Shop Somerset is a great way for consumers to discover new brands on their doorstep and for brands to network for likeminded organisations.”
Godminster will be working closely with the team at Somerset Day and Shop Somerset, said Founder of Somerset Day, Nigel Muers-Raby, “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Godminster as partners. They share our belief in their desire to support Somerset’s communities, organisations and independent businesses and we look forward to working with the team at Godminster to celebrate Somerset as a place to live, work, play and learn”.
Godminster joins some of the county’s leading businesses and organisations including Evosite, Thatchers Cider, Somerset Larder and Haynes International Motor Museum amongst others
