Somerset'S BIGGEST EVER quiz

With big plans for this year’s celebrations linked to, and following on from, the Coronation, amongst other events we want everyone to take part in creating a record for Somerset’s biggest ever quiz, themed around Somerset and its crown jewels and Royal connections.

In conjunction with BBC Radio Somerset, a virtual and actual pub quiz will take place on Friday 12th May between 7pm and 9pm. Anyone can join in and take part in the quiz hosted live by BBC Radio Somerset, but the quiz isn’t going to be limited to BBC Radio Somerset – we want to encourage pubs, village halls, community centres, schools, care homes, in fact anywhere, to take part by hosting a quiz on the same night and at the same time and raise funds for local good causes.

To make life easier for anyone wanting to take part in this record-breaking attempt and organise their own quiz, we will provide a pack with the rounds, questions and answers. Information packs and how to register your quiz are available on www.somersetday.com.

Quick off the mark with plans to join in making this a record breaker is Rumwell Farm Shop, which already has a near sell-out for its quiz night on May 12th , when they will be raising funds for Age UK Somerset. Rumwell Farm Shop Partner, Anne Mitchell commented: “We are really excited about being part of Somerset’s biggest ever quiz and helping to raise funds for a great local charity, Age UK Somerset.”

In addition to running the quiz, Passion for Somerset CIC are supporting other events taking place to celebrate the County, including: the Pride of Somerset Youth Awards on Thursday 11th May at the Conference Centre, Bridgwater & Taunton College, Taunton; Somerset FA Intermediate Cup Final at Shepton Mallet Football Club; eat:Taunton in the town centre on Saturday 13th May and a special service of Choral Evensong at Wells Cathedral, also on Saturday 13th May at 5.15pm.
